Comments on pedigree:
One of things we love about Don Diamond's perdigree, is that whilst it is littered with the names of the dressage gods (Donnerhall, Don Schufro and Wenzel I), he also carries that vital canter improving blood of Carolus and Ramiro.
Don Schufro (Donnerhall) stands out as one of the modern greats of dressage breeding. His son Diamond Hit has already been a success with his licensed son Donavan became Bundeschampion in Warendorf in 2005 and reserve Bundeschampion in 2006, his daughter Loxana was the sovereign champion at the Oldenburg Elite Mare show in Rastede, where ten Diamond Hit daughters were named State Premium Mare. Diamantbörse became Oldenburg Regional Champion for 3-year old riding horses and achieved a top knock down price at the Vechta Elite Auction in the autumn of 2005. The amount of licensed offspring is currently ticking at eight and is still rising.
Diamond Hit was proclaimed VTV-Dressage Stallion of the Year in 2005. Based on his own performances and on those of his offspring, Diamond Hit currently captures eight place on the ranking of all German breeding stallions.
Description:
Don Diamond proved in an impressive manner what the German Federation’s director of training for the equestrian sports, Christoph Hess, already said about him in Munich: “This son of Diamond Hit already stood out at the trot up on hard ground and won over the commission and spectators in all aspects. A youngster of a good stallion type with an excellent trot, very good walk and a canter during which he always steps far under his centre of gravity. During all stages of the approvals he was mentally completely balanced and physically almost 100%. This stallion knows how to present himself in an excellent manner. In my opinion he is the most distinguished stallion I have seen in Munich in the past few years.” Don Diamond descends from the Grand Prix stallion Diamond Hit, who is regarded as one of the very top sires with a dressage index of 162 points.
A beautiful lighter, modern type of stallion, moving away from the heavy old days. Very sharp and reflexive behind with good angulation, with great fore leg conformation and technique over a fence.
As with most of the Birkhof stallions, Don Diamond offers our breeders the opportunity use blood that is often hard to find or too expensive for the average pocket.
Performances and Results:
2007: Earned Champion Stallion at the Southern German stallion approvals in Munich. Won the 30-day test in Neustadt/ Dosse with sensational scores: Trot 9.13 / Canter 9.75 / Walk 9.0 / Rideability 9.5 / Temperament 9.38 / Jumping 7.75 / Dressage weighted final score 9.36 / Jumping weighted final score 8.33 / Overall 8.92!
Strong points:
Movement, type, looks
Comment on conformation offspring:
His first foals arrived last year.
Mares to use with this stallion:
Don Diamond will add looks to the more dull mares, whilst adding to those who are pretty in the face. He will refine the heavier types and augment those who already carry blood. To be honest, it's difficult to find mares that he wouldn't suit!
